Below is a comment I just received on my latest post. (Thank you for taking the time).
At first glance this looks like a fair comment, but it’s really not.
The phone is answered 100% of the time at my office whenever we are available (ie: not with someone) and we are open.
Unless we want to morph into 24-hour availability where we answer the phone regardless of who we’re with, it’s never gonna happen.
The person in front of me takes 100% precedence over the phone.
After all… we don’t want them to feel like they’re at lunch with a friend who says “hold on, I have to take this…”
I think this is a very fair and accurate comment except that 22% of the time we call back the 60% of calls that we miss.
