I have a firm belief that when you don’t speak authentically with people you’re cheating. You’re cheating yourself out of being a better leader and you’re cheating that person out of being a better person.
Too many times in property management we cloud the truth. Or please speak with such distraction that we never really get to the point. We are so scared of what the other person will think of us that we simply don’t speak the truth. We are afraid of being un-liked or shunned.
Guess what. People want to be hard-core unadulterated unfiltered truth about what you think. They want you to hit them between the eyes with it. It doesn’t mean they are going to like what you have to say. But they want it clear and concise. They want you to care enough to tell them exactly how you feel or what you think.
Item of note: don’t be an ass. There is a huge difference between care and condescension.
