Where do you find the best talent for the multifamily space? Under the premise of people want to be a part of something bigger than themselves – what space do you seek to recruit from? What do you look for in the people?
Focus on the Drivers
I am not so much concerned about the where as much as I am the drivers. Here is my list of prerequisites. Please add where you see fit and debate where you think I am off. Item of note – if you work for me now – these are my passion points:
- They want to be a part of something bigger than themselves
- They challenge authority but do it with good premise
- They detest tradition and sacred cows
- They seek autonomy
- They seek a flexible environment
- They want balance
- They want to pursue passions and desires outside of business hours
What do you think?
Your always looking for exceptional talent multifamily maniac,

My boss looks in the hospitality industry. She hired me out of a dive bar/comedy club. They have the ability to multi-task and plenty of customer service experience (bars are best, if you can handle a drunk you can handle an angry resident). Many are looking for something that is more permanent, structured, and stable which is motivating. And if you can remember a wine list or a menu, you’ve got a good candidate to know the laws and lease inside and out. Doesn’t always work but it’s logical.
I love that!!! I am convinced that business lives and die on relationship and ones ability to create amazing environments to work in.
