Just received this pic via email – Yikes – I am thinking no amount of marketing – on or offline – experience or otherwise will help avoid this PR disaster. That is a 12-story building that just fell over – glad it is not one of mine. Unfortunately there was one fatality.
They were attempting to build an underground parking garage…

You know, about three years ago, a crane crashed in to the side of a building here in Belleveue, WA. It was a PR nightmare, people were killed, and there wasn't a good way to spin it at all. But, 3 years later, it's a cautionary tale, and I couldn't tell you who owned the crane or which new building in downtown Bellevue it crashed in to.
Sometimes, when it's tragic, it's inappropriate to try to spin the story. You say you screwed up, you make the necesarry amends, and you move forward. Personally, I have a lot higher respect for companies that, in these circumstances, skip the spin cycle.
ps- I'm glad it wasn't one of your buildings too, Mike!
