Reinvent the business card

Business CardI got my new business cards this week that included my twitter and blog identities. After feeling like I accomplished something cool, I started thinking there is so much more I could add. In terms of design I think my business card has to tie to my on line identity. So, next time around I will include my Linkedin and Facebook identities and possibly my avatar.

My primary point here is that the business card is/has changed – do you agree?

  1. I agree, Mike, that is a really good idea. I need to rethink my business card anyway. I like the vertical option. I have never done a vertical but I know that would help with my layout too. Our world is changing isn’t it! Listening to the superbowl patter and at one point, they said something and ended with, “all the blogosphere is buzzing.” It makes me smile to think that I have been fortunate to be there as all of this has evolved and open enough to see it as a viable alternative.

  2. Julie –

Thank you for taking the time to give some feedback. I heard that comment – it was Costas talking to Springsteen about his halftime playlist. I agree – it is awesome!!!! I love the blog world, sometimes too much.

I would very much like to see what you come up with on your business card.

Have a great night – hope your team wins.

  3. Sondrah,

Thanks for the comment. It’s kind of a funny story. I ordered the new cards and not two days later decided to change my branding strategy which including changing my blog address to http://multifamilycollective.com We did bring all of the content over, so what you see here is what you would have seen at the other URL.

I am using myapartmentblog.com in another venture.

    Have a great day.

  4. Mike-

Cool cards. Not sure how often you buy cards (as you apparently need to get updated ones again already) and I’m not sure how much you pay for them, but here’s an idea for you.

    http://www.mytextcard.com/

For $50/yr (or $4.95/mo.) you can have a “Text Card”. I don’t think it’s a ridiculous cost, but is pretty cool. Just have the person you’ve met Text mbrewer and email@domain.com to 71813 and MyTextCard.com will email and text them all your info.

When you need to update your info, it’s just a few clicks away and not going to cost you for some new cards.

Connective Mobile can handle many of your other text needs for you properties as well. They have a “Real Estate” set up that’s very easy to use. One feature for this is allowing someone to send a text message and get a digital brochure emailed to them. We’re testing the real estate program at our student properties this leasing season, and Firebelly Marketing has been using the Text Card program for over a year now. We also intend on testing their “Text Club” service for current residents in the future.

    Enjoy your day!

  5. M,

You are right on this one. Thank you for sharing this awesome resource, I would love to hear how it goes with your student site.
I need to take a three day weekend and make my way up to your neck of the woods. It would be good to get your thoughts on student housing. We have a site in Carbondale, Ill that has been killed by oversupply in recent months and we are pulling out all the stops. Would you be open to showing me around if I made it up there in the next week or so?
