Property Managers/Apartment Marketers: Are you ready to be real?
What a great statement Gary makes in this video. Note: I watch every new show he airs not only for the great wine tips but the guy just inspires me. I will admit, it scares the hell out of me to pull the politically correct corporate america facade and go full out. That said, his statements speak volumes at many levels.

Social Marketing + Care + Time = Success
When you CARE, you MAKE the time. –Tom Peters
I read Tom’s quote of the day and thought; this is what social marketing is really about. If you care to have a successful social marketing presence then you will take the time to build it. You would put time and effort into not unlike the great team over at Urbane.
Who knows what is to come of this social media/marketing reality we live in. A couple facts to note; it is here, it is real and it is real powerful. If you don’t believe it, look no further than Obama’s campaign strategy. They employed social media/networks more effectively than ever imagined. It was brilliant.
I look forward to all the discussions to come and more importantly the generation and execution of some amazing game changing ideas.
Make time to care about your position in the world of social media/marketing today and thank you as always for taking the time to read our blog. Have an compelling day today.

ilist: The new Craigslist?
Hat tip to Rentwiki for for this lead:
To preface: After twitterrank filtered through the Twittterverse yesterday, I was a bit gun shy about sharing any personal information relative to my SM sites. ilist asks for private information for every one of your SM sites and you can only imagine what went through my head.
I did proceed despite my angst. The following came right from their website and it appears to me the multifamily space may have another avenue for marketing. Not only that, the market will very tightnit and focused. My question is, will that market feel invaded upon?

of use, openness, authenticity and clean design. iList lets you use
the power of your social networks to spread your listing quickly,
giving you the ability to cross-post your listings to common services

on iList use their social network accounts or mobile phones to
reinforce their authenticity, avoiding spammers that plague other
classifieds systems. If you‘re a developer geek, we‘re
avid supporters of data portability — we have a full, REST-ful

Workstir. The new Craigslist?
Love that guy at TechCrunch via Twitter
Do you think there is a use for this in the Multifamily space? With a bit of molding and a different name it could produce a whole new way of marketing apartment homes.
Overview
Consumers
Workstir
is a fresh way to find local service providers. Instead of combing
through lists of service providers and relying on gut instinct to pick
the best one, you simply post your need and you’ll receive bids from
service providers in your e-mail. The days of blindly selecting a
service provider are over. Providers are given ratings and reviews on
their previous work. You are now able to make an educated decision when
you choose who to do business with!
Service Providers
Whether
you are a mechanic, painter, mover or a college student looking for
extra cash, we provide local leads daily. If you dread trolling
classifieds for work, look no further. Workstir will send you an e-mail
whenever a new job is posted in your area or a daily e-mail listing all
new leads for that day. Workstir gives every service provider their own
profiles, photo uploads and rating system so good work can be
recognized. Your profile address can be shared on business cards and
sent via e-mail.

Microsoft’s Surface has some real competition
Coming to a leasing office near you…GestureTek
As I understand it there are a select few communities out there that employee this kind of technology and I assume it won’t be too long before we see some mass adoption. Can you imagine the cool factor this brings to a leasing office. I imagine it brings a whole new meaning to virtual tour.
