Planning for All Nine Innings is a Fool’s Game – Embrace the Unplanned
“You’re trying to map out the whole nine innings. Just throw the first pitch.” – Ryan Holiday
I’m not much of a baseball fan.
I liken it to watching paint dry.
But we will work with the analogy anyway.
We can’t predict every twist, turn, or curveball.
The illusion of a perfect plan is paralyzing.
Success isn’t about controlling every moment.
Pivoting when the game changes is above most things.
Let the unknown excite you, not paralyze you.
Action reveals paths.
Strategy is about adapting to what you see on the field, not obsessing over the story you tell yourself.
Focus on the next play, not the whole game.
