Congrats to Terry Slattery
NORFOLK,
Va.—(December 5,
2008)—For Rent Media Solutions, a leading apartment resource for
searching apartments nationwide, and
a division of Dominion Enterprises, is proud to announce Terry Slattery’s
promotion to president of For Rent Media Solutions. This change is in
recognition of Slattery’s contributions to both For Rent Media Solutions and the
multi-housing industry.
“I have had the fortune of working with
Terry for eight years now,” said Jack Ross, president of Dominion
Enterprises apartment and employment businesses. “His impact on For Rent Media
Solutions and the industry has been substantial. He continues to show his
dedication to multi-housing through his membership in organizations like the
National Apartment Association, where he was recently recognized as a recipient
of a Paragon Award. I am confident For Rent Media Solutions will continue to
grow under his leadership.”
Slattery entered the multi-housing industry
in 1993, when he joined the For Rent
Magazine® office in Las Vegas as an account executive. Since then, he has held several positions within the
company, including national marketing director, vice president of marketing, and
vice president of national sales and marketing. He assisted with the execution
of LEADS™, the original tracking service in the multi-family
housing business, now considered the standard in the industry. He is also
credited for heading up the group that created
ForRent.com®, one of the nation’s leading apartment Internet Listing
Services.
“I am honored to step into the role of
president of For Rent Media Solutions,” said Slattery. “I am proud of the
success our company continues to experience and look forward to finding more
innovative ways to promote our clients through a combination of print and
Internet services.”
Slattery is very active in the
multi-housing industry, attending many industry conferences and serving as a
board member for the National Apartment Association. In 2007, he was appointed
chairman of the National Supplier’s Council. In this position, he co-chaired the
NAA Education Conference and Convention in Las Vegas and oversaw the development
of the National Suppliers Council. This is the highest level that a supplier can
rise to in the multi-family industry.
In his last role as the vice president and
general manager of For Rent Media Solutions, Slattery brought innovation to the
industry through new initiatives such as online video and mobile technology. As
president, he will oversee all aspects
of print, Internet, production and operations for all For Rent Media Solutions
publications and Web sites, including: For Rent Magazine®,
ForRent.com, Apartamentos Para
Rentar®, CorporateHousing.com and After 55™ Housing and Resource
Guide.

Wouldn’t it be cool if…
Mike Brewer · · 1 Comment
…there was an instant notification mechanism alerting us that a prospect was surfing around any one of our marketing avenues? If each one of those platforms notified us with a ping we could move to immediate engagement. It would be similar to a bell on your front door.
I know we have that in the way of prospects sending email for additional information but what if we could simply and in real time just thank them for stopping by and engage them in some productive conversation. Not sales jargon, like “I can help you.” or “What can we do for?” Is it invasive?
One might suggest that permission for engagement is not established in this concept, I would suggest that it is. Permission is established the second they hit your page and the ping goes off.
What do you think?

Resident Loyality Programs
I am curious what we have going on out there as a community in terms of resident loyalty programs.
I ran across some advertisements today that got me thinking about the subject. I married it up with pay for performance and thought about the following.
On lease signing day what if we described a pay for performance metric that enticed residents to pay on time. That is a rewards based system that paid them a concession at the end of their lease term. For instance, for every month that they paid on time they received a $10 credit to use toward an extension of their lease term. That’s just one idea, the possibilities are endless.
What are some of the organic things that you are doing as an organization to create loyalty?

FLIP Thank you video
How many of you apartment maniac friends of mine have used the FLIP video recorder (Did you see they have an HD version now? WOW) to send a thank you for dropping by video. That is in lieu of or in combination with a thank you card. It really is the ultimate be-back motivationg cool factor mechanism of the day.
Imagine your prospect walking out the door and you find a quick second to record a thank you for stopping by FLIP video that you promptly send to them. Imagine now that they open their email and it’s YOU saying, “thank you, enjoyed our time together and hope to see you again. Have a famous day.” Maybe you have your Forrent.com the Magazine community theater laced in. Ok, maybe not. Nevertheless, it is cool, memorable and remarkable.
Has anyone out there tried this yet, if so send me a link so I can give you some blog time and kudos.
Have a compelling day all. M

Social Marketing + Care + Time = Success
When you CARE, you MAKE the time. –Tom Peters
I read Tom’s quote of the day and thought; this is what social marketing is really about. If you care to have a successful social marketing presence then you will take the time to build it. You would put time and effort into not unlike the great team over at Urbane.
Who knows what is to come of this social media/marketing reality we live in. A couple facts to note; it is here, it is real and it is real powerful. If you don’t believe it, look no further than Obama’s campaign strategy. They employed social media/networks more effectively than ever imagined. It was brilliant.
I look forward to all the discussions to come and more importantly the generation and execution of some amazing game changing ideas.
Make time to care about your position in the world of social media/marketing today and thank you as always for taking the time to read our blog. Have an compelling day today.
