At least they are in the recycle bin…
To preface: no real value to this post, its just one of those fun Friday kind of things.
Shout out to Mills own Melissa Preusser, Marketing Director & Communication Strategist for the pic and the title to this blog post. Seems like such a waste in a world that is/has quickly moved digital. In all fairness, while relocating our business offices over the last three weeks, we purged what seemed like years and years of material.
I will say this; moving forces you to skinny down and what a great feeling it is.
Take away: Stop what you are doing right now and take something to the recycle bin. Something that you have not touched and really have no intention of touching. Get it out of your life then come back and comment on it below.
Have a lighter week!

Property Management: You Think You’ve Seen it All. And, then….
Mike Brewer · · 1 Comment
Car thieves are now using tow trucks to tow vehicles that have expired tabs or look otherwise derelict. And, apartment community parking lots and garages seem to be hotbeds for the action. Apparently they move them straight crushing facilities where they sell them for scrape metal prices. Brilliantly awful!
This serves as one of those; if that person(s) would just use that kind of thought process in a productive the world would be a better place.
What else is going on out there? Any weird new twists on crime in your portfolios?

Property Management: Faxless in St. Louis
We are taking the plunge at a hand full of our properties this year. We are dropping the fax lines and moving toward a scan and file interlude to paperless offices. Based on the results from this test; we may be able to carve out a $100+/- savings over the course of a year. That is not to mention the un-measurables like; lost documents, time for filing and retrieval.
The real question – are we making it difficult to do business with us? At what point do you finally stop a practice despite the small percentage of user base that may still use services that you offer?

Apartment Marketing: Becoming Human in a Digital Space
Ran across a great post over at Brains on Fire recently that spoke to the necessity of companies being human. It’s well beyond the time of shedding fear. In their terms; “welcome to a brave new world.” Be it on your facebook pages, your blog, your web copy on the phone or in person; it’s paramount that you go for friend first and business transaction second. The hard part is letting your company hair down; in that context consider this.
It’s Time to Shine
Imagine for a moment; you meet a cool guy or gal at xyz function and decide that the two of you should get together again sometime. You agree to call in a couple days to see about a time and place to meet. When you call you let him/her know that you have appts stacked on top of appts but you can squeeze them in around six two months from Tuesday. Oh and, by the way, don’t forget to bring your credit card.
It’s a bit tongue in cheek but in the same respect it is how we treat the human beings that are reaching out to befriend us in our businesses. “Thank you for calling Hidden Treetop Village on Golden Pond Apartments; this is Suzy Trying to Hard to be Cheery Cardwell; how can I be of service to you today?” People see right through the lipstick.
Do we talk to friends like that?
